Android-Apps: Snaptube — Free Video And Audio Downloader (Use With Caution)

Snaptube allows you to download videos from Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, Twitter, and other social media apps for free.

For those who noticed I am downloading anime and movies recently and are curious what software that I am using to download them, this is IT! This is a free video downloader for YouTube and other video content websites. There is always an advertisement to download its music player but other than this, there is no major issue with advertisements.

To use, simply copy the video link, and the window to download this video with its available video quality will be shown in Snaptube app. You may also add the link from the Home => " + " on the upper right corner and paste the video link. It is very simple to download videos for offline viewing.

This is the Home window where you can view or search your video contents that you want to watch.

This is the My Files window where you will find all your downloaded videos and audios are listed and their download status.

This is the Me window where you can set your preferences and also login using your google profile. You do not have to login to use this app.

CAUTION: It has been reported that this is a malicious app.
I covered Upstream’s report into SnapTube last October. The app lets users select and download videos from Facebook and YouTube—but in the background, Upstream warned, it was defrauding users and advertisers to generate a financial return. Upstream also claimed that SnapTube generated premium calls and texts, unbeknownst to its users, that likely generated almost $100 million.
With this concern, I actually use a backup phone to install Snaptube and download videos. That phone (Samsung Galaxy S5) practically has nothing inside. It has enough storage (24GB) for me to use to download videos without using my main phone. There are messages stating calls from Snaptube but I just ignore the messages most of the time. Just use it to download videos and disable it (Stopped app) when not using it you use it on your main phone.

There is another open-sourced android youtube video downloader app (Newpipe) that I will write on when I am more familiar with it. I noticed that it is not in Google Play Store (same name but different app). Search the internet and download from Newpipe website instead. You have been notified if you did not finish reading this paragraph.

MX Linux Fluxbox Review - For Low-End Laptops

MX Linux logo from https://linuxiac.com/mx-linux/      Recently I have successfully installed MX Linux Fluxbox on my Acer Aspire One 725 (AO725) netbook. I initially wanted to install Bodhi Linux onto my AO725 netbook, but failed. Finally I tried MX Linux Fluxbox, after trying Anti-X linux and some other ultra-lightweight Linux. MX Linux Fluxbox is suppose to be a lightweight Linux for low-powered laptops such as netbooks or very old laptops. Upon bootup, it only takes 337MB of RAM (438MB for Thinkpad X200) before you load any apps. With 4GB RAM, it is still a lot of RAM for for most apps, like the browser but the CPU utilization is close to 100% after running a Chromium broswer and DeadBeef music player. Things likely be slow... after this point from my observation but I have not tried to do anything more than those common things that I usually need to do.      Since I managed to install MX Linux Fluxbox, I initially did not bother to use the A...

Linux-DesktopEnv: RAM Usage Comparison For Sparky Linux LxQT and Xfce and Q40S MATE Desktop Environment

Today I did a test on RAM usage for the following desktop environments (DE) using VirtualBox to determine their RAM usage: MATE DE with Q4OS 4.7 Sparky Linux 6.2 LXQt Sparky Linux 6.2 Xfce      The main reason is for me to decide which desktop environment I want to use for my Lenovo Thinkpad X200. I have tried other desktop environments: Enlightenment with SparkyLinux MininumGUI  Trinity with Q4OS Bodhi Linux with a customized Enlightenment DE      The main issue with Enlightenment with SparkyLinux is that it does not work well with autologin. Sometimes it gets kicked out and you have to login again. I suspect is the windows manager issue but I cannot find the solution for this. Trinity has an issue with using jpg wallpaper so it is a turn-off as I don't want default wallpapers. The customized Enlightenment desktop in Bodhi Linux has limited themes but is still acceptable but I want to look for the best for my Thinkpad X200.     ...
