Linux-OS: AnduinOS Linux - Newest Windows 11 Theme Linux Distribution

With Windows 10 end of support on 14 Oct 2025, there is a trend of unsupported Windows 11 upgrade laptops users likely throw or choose alternative operating system such as Linux. The newest Windows 11 theme AndurinOS Linux distribution is developed by a China Chinese guy working for Microsoft. The desktop environment is using GNOME desktop and is based on Ubuntu Linux distribution.  AnduinOS on my HP Envy 13 laptop      I came across this Linux distribution when I was looking at YouTube videos. I forgot the guy who was introducing this Linux distribution but I got curious and when to look at it. It looks promising and as it is a pretty new Linux distribution but it got quite a lot of people looking and reviewing it made me even more curious. It is then I decided to give it a try.      AnduinOS Linux distribution is developed by a single Chinese software developer working in Microsoft. Since he is into developing .NET applications, ...

MX Linux Fluxbox Review - For Low-End Laptops

MX Linux logo from https://linuxiac.com/mx-linux/      Recently I have successfully installed MX Linux Fluxbox on my Acer Aspire One 725 (AO725) netbook. I initially wanted to install Bodhi Linux onto my AO725 netbook, but failed. Finally I tried MX Linux Fluxbox, after trying Anti-X linux and some other ultra-lightweight Linux. MX Linux Fluxbox is suppose to be a lightweight Linux for low-powered laptops such as netbooks or very old laptops. Upon bootup, it only takes 337MB of RAM (438MB for Thinkpad X200) before you load any apps. With 4GB RAM, it is still a lot of RAM for for most apps, like the browser but the CPU utilization is close to 100% after running a Chromium broswer and DeadBeef music player. Things likely be slow... after this point from my observation but I have not tried to do anything more than those common things that I usually need to do.      Since I managed to install MX Linux Fluxbox, I initially did not bother to use the A...

Linux-OS: Linux Lite, My Personal Favourite Now

Image from: https://www.makeuseof.com/is-linux-lite-fast-and-lightweight-distro/ Linux Lite becomes my Favourite Linux distribution again!                                                                                       - Dickson Idlier I have been using Linux Mint distribution as it is stable and enables me to transfer data from my mobile phone. This is important to me as I use my mobile phone to download files and then transfer them to my external hard disks or laptops for use. So this feature is important to me compared to usable Linux Desktop. Initially I wanted to try different Linux desktop environments so the customised XFCE on Linux Lite does not meet my needs. It was my favourite Linux distribution before I started desktop environment hopping. But I ...

2ndLife: Revive HP Stream Notebook PC 13 Again With Bodhi Linux

** Just a update that the HP Stream Notebook PC 13 had died on me for a while back. Since with limited or slow hardware, I just thrashed it into a electronics recycling box near my place. So the experience for this laptop was really BAD.  I have posted before about reviving my HP Stream Notebook PC 13 in my previous post. However, I noticed that the laptop lags when loading applications, for too long and is sometimes non-responsive when not so heavily used. Frustrated, I decided to try out a lightweight Linux distribution: Bodhi Linux. It uses a customized Enlightenment desktop environment, so it is lighter on resources than Xfce.       During installation, I noticed that Bodhi Linux is able to detect my laptop's Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8723BE PCIe Wireless Network Adapter. Surprisingly, I was overjoyed as I do not need a physical network connection to install and update the laptop after installation.  Bodhi Linux comes pre-installed with a ...

Linux-DesktopEnv: Testing Xfce RAM Usage On Q4OS 4.7 and Linux Mint 20.3

Since I am having issues (snap apps installed not shown in the menu) with Sparky Linux 6.2 Xfce, I decided to test out other Q4OS and Linux Mint Linux distributions to see how well they worked and any issues that I might encounter. I was hoping to get a trouble-free Linux distro to install on my old Thinkpad X200. As usual, I would be testing these two using VirtualBox.  Virtual Machines specs: 1 CPU 2GB RAM 30 GB hard disk Linux Mint 20.3 Xfce I am more confident with Linux Mint since it has better support for this Linux distro. I have been using Linux Mint 20.3 on my Asus X556UB and I am satisfied with Linux Mint 20.3 MATE. I just prefer less RAM for my other laptops so I chose Xfce instead of MATE.       I do not encounter any issues so far from installation to updating the system. After trying snap installation and update theme will I conclude the test with htop result. For autologon, there is a GUI in the system menu under "login Window". It is under ...

TechBites: I Love Linux Operating System

I have been a huge fan of the Linux operating system which beats Windows hands-down anytime.       I got to know Linux when I was trying to learn HP-UX when working at Hewlett Packard Singapore in 1999 as a ? specialist, a year before the fearful millennium bug hits. I was hoping to have a HP-UX similar operating system to practice at home. I chanced upon Linux and the first I tried was Redhat Linux. It was fun working on it and later found a more user-friendly Linux called Mandrake Linux. I played with Mandrake Linux more than Redhat as it was more of a hobby than work.       I also got to know Windows NT, a server operating system from Windows to compete with Unix. Windows NT was less interesting compared to Linux but have better commercial value for the IT industry so I also spend quite a lot of time setting up and playing with it in my spare time at work.       I was not intimidated by Linux as I was comfortable working wit...
